Israel N., alleged aggressor of Susana Araceli Camacho, was arrested in Tlatlauquitepec, Puebla, thirteen days after the femicide in Texcoco, State of Mexico. The arrest was made as a result of a joint operation between the Municipal Police of Tlatlauquitepec, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Puebla, the Tlatlauqui unit, and the Navy.
The subject, wanted for the murder of the young woman from Texcoco and hiding in the community of Loma de la Hierba, was located and captured in Puebla. The victim, Susana Araceli, was found dead on February 20 and, according to the autopsy, died from asphyxia, allegedly at the hands of her partner, Israel N., who was known to have committed domestic violence against her.
The victim's sister stated that Susana Araceli suffered this type of violence from Israel N., reinforcing suspicions of femicide, especially since the aggressor fled to Puebla. Following the murder, protests erupted from neighbors and family demanding justice at the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico in Texcoco on March 2.
In January of this year, the State of Mexico reported seven femicides, a lower figure compared to the previous year, but still concerning at a national level. Regarding intentional homicides against women in the same month, 15 cases were recorded, fewer than in January 2024, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.
Additionally, it is noted that Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec, Ecatzingo, Metepec, Nicolás Romero, Tecámac, and Villa del Carbón are among the municipalities nationwide that account for almost half of the femicides in the country, according to official reports.
